I rode out to BBD hoping I would have a better ride. The wind direction was more like NNE and it was against me on SR56. My average speed was only about 9mph! I rode along Hueland Pond which was calm and speedy with the wind behind me. Headwind along Mansfield slowed me down again until I made the turn south. I was clipping along at about 16mph and the crossing guard at Wrencrest started to blow her whistle. WTF. I didn't even see any kids at the corner! The car slightly ahead me didn't stop, the car behind didn't stop. So I felt little guilty in not stopping. Good grief. She got me twice this week, she doesn't need to stop me a third time.

I turned around and saw she was waving "sorry." Ugh. As she passed, I noted her license plate, 907 4JE. Silver hatchback, maybe a Hyundai?

I took the old bike computer off and moved my bell up to the handlebars. 
It was cold but the sun felt good. Riding this bike seems effortless since the gears are new and the shifting is indexed. 
I turned onto MPB and noticed the tire felt soft. I stopped and checked and it was soft. I don't remember riding over anything that would have given me a flat. I tried to pump it up but it only got worse. I noticed the valve stem was crooked even before I tried to pump it up. One guy on a bike stopped but I said I was OK. 
I finally took the wheel off and changed the tube. Getting the tire off is always a struggle. I didn't see any nicks of holes. I pulled out a new tube and put it on. Putting it on was easier than in the past. Pumping it up was not easy. I do not like my pump as I am never sure if I have it seated properly. I had to stop once to inflate some more.
My tire was still a little soft so I rode carefully home. I pumped it up when I got him with my floor pump.

I was just past Oldwoods and the rear tire felt soft. I turned onto path and it was low. I couldn't see anything sticking out but saw that the tread was worn through. I pumped in some air but not enough to ride. I got off and called dad. And called dad. I called him 15 times hanging up after the voice mail message started. I called the house phone thinking he might have had his iPhone on silent for church. I saw that recents linked the house phone to Ryan and remembered his iPhone is on the kitchen table. I called that iPhone and dad answered. He came to pick me up. By then I had walked about a mile.

I rode my 820. Such a different ride. Easier and harder at the same time. I like sitting a bit upright but I go slower. However, I was surprised when my Apple Watch said I had average 12.1 mph for the first five miles. I have been averaging that on my road bike. I assumed it was because I was more fatigued and heavier. But maybe it was tire wearing out? I wonder.

He thinks he has two bikes but the red one is still mine. Silly boy. He reluctantly said yes and I inflated his tires. How does he ride with them so low?
