jaunty angle

My first shot. I was trying to figure out depth of filed to make the background blur out. I think I got it but I don’t think there is enough range in this lens to really tell.

I think it looks pretty good, gives a sort of reference. The only thing is his face is a bit dark. That is not a difficult fix post processing though. Welcome to the POTD, looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi, and welcome!! You’ll get a lot of good comments and information from POTD. This is a good start, on my monitor it looks a little dark but I tend to have that problem. I love the expression on his face!

I think you definitely got a little BG blur. Nice job!

    Cute facial expression too

Good shot, to blur the background you would need a lower aperture. I noticed with my kit lens its harder to blur the background. HTH!!

Nice job—there is definite blurring in the background! A different lens might give you even better results–there’s something for the wishlist, right? LOL

    Welcome to the POTD!

Love playing with DOF too…..Anything at 5.6 or lower should blur the background nicely….:0

You did get some blur! You’d probably have better luck standing farther away from your subject, or opening up the aperture.
